Frequently Asked
Questions
What to Expect at the Initial Intake.
The first session includes an in-depth intake, reviewing your medical history, personal history, and current lifestyle. It is also a time for you to share what symptoms you want to address and what changes you hope to see. This allows me to see your full picture and help determine a treatment plan that will best serve you.
Following the intake will be acupuncture treatments and optional cupping. This treatment is meant to test and clear any energy blocks, begin to set the foundation for future treatments, and leave you feeling more grounded and connected.
Is it Safe?
Yes! It is a safe and effective treatment when treated by a licensed practitioner using single-use needles. Acupuncture is practiced worldwide and is highly regulated in the US; most states require licensing that involves rigorous education and testing. A small percentage of people, approx 8% may experience mild side effects such as bruising, fatigue, and light-headedness. The benefits far outweigh any risks.
Does it hurt?
The needles are very thin, similar to a strand of hair. The insertion can cause “sensation” that we often seek to know we are utilizing the point effectively. It is typically fleeting. If one of the points continues to feel uncomfortable, we adjust it or remove it. The goal is to have you be as comfortable as possible. So, while there may be some sensation with insertion, it’s actually quite relaxing. Acupuncture is an effective pain treatment. Sometimes people find relief from their pain within minutes of being on the table.

This is an important part of investing in your health, as this is a cumulative medicine where each treatment builds upon the progress of the last.
Once a foundation is set, we begin to space treatments out depending on how you are feeling, healing, and your individual needs.

I use a variety of treatment techniques and choose the one(s) that will be most beneficial to your individual case.
My goal is for you to not need treatment often, but rather address the root cause of any imbalances in the beginning, then allow your innate healing ability to maintain harmony.
Generally, patients will get the most out of this medicine with continued (and less frequent) treatment for preventative health care and maintenance of overall well-being. This may be monthly, bi-monthly, or seasonal, depending on each individual's needs or any acute situations that may arise.
